The Kiwis came closer to rewrite the record books when they scored a massive 397 for 5 in just 44 overs against Zimbabwe, the second highest total in a One-day International.
398, the highest score ever was scored by Sri Lanka against Kenya during the 1996 World Cup. But it would have been easily broken if the Kiwis got the full 50 overs. The innings was reduced to 44 overs after the delayed start coz of a damp pitch. Lou Vincent scored 172 in just 120 balls (4×16, 6×9) while skipper Fleming scored 93 from 87 balls.
