Just now Matthew Hoggard got Dale Steyn out caught behind by Jones to give a much needed victory for England. Matthew Hoggard finished his spell with a career best of 7 for 61.
It was a gamble when Michael Vaughan declared when England were on 411/8 in the first innings after all the incidents that took place when umpires called off the second days play for bad light but Vaughan felt otherwise. Andrew Strauss lead by scoring 147 while Robert Key and Michael Vaughan contributed with 83 and 82 respectively. In reply South Africa scored 419 all out in their fisrt innings. Herchelle Gibbs played the lone hand by scoring 161 and got some support from Mark Boucher. England on the second Innings declared at 332 for 9 on the morning of the 5th day. Marcus Trescothick thrashed the South African pace attack, ended up scoring 180. South Africa chasing an unlickely target of 325 for victory lost wickets at regular intervals. The demolisher being Matthew Hoggard who won the Man of the Match award for his 7 wickets in the second innings. He also got 5 wickets in the first.
